Recognizing and Responding to Sexual Violence: An Interactive Online Workshop

  February 20-March 13, 2023

The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE) is launching a new, guided, online workshop for adults wanting to learn more about consent, sexual violence, and how to support someone impacted.

What to expect

Every week of the course a new module is released on Monday at 8:00 AM, starting February 20. This three-week workshop is designed to be highly interactive. Participants can expect to spend two to three hours per week engaging with a mix of text, videos, resources, as well as group discussions facilitated by member of the SACE Public Education Team.

We want to acknowledge that sexual violence can be a tough topic to learn about and engaging with this subject matter at home and online may create additional challenges. Before enrolling in this course, please consider whether you have the right supports in place for you to safely engage with this content. Participants are encouraged to practice self-care and access community care throughout the workshop, and to reach out for support if needed by calling the SACE Support and Information Line at 780.423.4121.

Who it's for

The goal of this workshop is to give participants the tools and knowledge they need to respond to the issue of sexual violence in their personal or professional lives. This course is intended for adults with a general interest in these topics.

We recommend that those currently supporting a loved one who has experienced sexual violence enroll in our online course, Information for Partners and Supporters. For more information on this course keep an eye on our social media accounts or contact education@sace.ca

If you’re part of a larger workplace, community organization, volunteer cohort, or professional group and you’d like to arrange to complete the course with your colleagues or peersplease email education@sace.ca. We can discuss your unique needs, adapt the course content to meet them, and assign an educator to facilitate this course for just your team, with your specific learning requirements in mind.

Pricing

This workshop is available on a sliding scale of $0 - $40 to ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation. We ask for those who are able to consider a contribution of $25.
